In Nov-2015, I published a Platform view, discussing some key issues in estimating, in the Project Control Professional which is the journal of The Association of Cost Engineers (now called Controls and Skills Authority).
The title was Estimating – better value for money
The article discusses the following topics in relation to estimating:
- Scope management
- Change management
- Spread-sheet management
- Time management
- Client management
I have employed some very common industry wide project management concepts and showed how they can be used in the process of preparing the estimates to help increase the accuracy, quality and reliability of the estimates. The idea is to help estimators everywhere to give better value for money in at least the work they do.
